The first game between Delhi and Hyderabad turned out to be a low-scoring thriller where Delhi got a well-deserved win. Both teams are struggling at the moment and every match is a do-or-die situation for both sides. Both teams have won 2 out of the 7 games they’ve played but Hyderabad is in the 9th position because of their net run rate and Delhi is at the bottom of the points table.
Both teams have been very poor on the field with both bat and ball. They’ll be willing to turn things around but they’ll have to be at their best as a group for doing that. Both with teams eager to get those two points, it promises to be another thriller of a contest between them.
Team Preview
Delhi Capitals
The Capitals have been below average with the bat with only David Warner performing consistently and a couple of contributions from Manish Pandey. They’ve surprisingly benched both Rovman Powell and Rilee Rossouw and the move has failed badly. Mitchell Marsh showed glimpses of some form in the last game and he needs to get going. The others also need to step up with the bat.
Their bowlers have been in great form in the last couple of games with Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav and Ishant Sharma bowling really well. Mukesh Kumar was phenomenal in the last match. Delhi will expect their bowlers to continue their good form in the upcoming matches.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the most disappointing teams in the tournament. They’ve got an excellent squad with plenty of depth in both batting and bowling. The likes of Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen form a very strong batting unit but they’ve all failed to get going until now and it’s about time they start performing consistently.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, Mayank Markande and T Natarajan form the core of the bowling for the Sunrisers. They have been good but there is room for improvement. Natarajan has been very expensive and they’ll also miss Washignton Sundar for the remainder of the competition.
Pitch/Venue Report
The pitch will be a good one but it’s expected to slow down a bit as the game progresses. The pacers will get some movement upfront with the new ball and the spinners will get good help off the deck. The average first innings score here is 172 runs and chasing sides have been more successful here by winning 52% of the games.
Probable Playing XI

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (c), Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Marco Jansen, Abdul Samad/Mayank Dagar, Umran Malik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan/Kartik Tyagi, Mayank Markande
Players to Watch Out For
David Warner
David Warner looked in good touch in the last game before he got out for 21 runs. Warner has been the best batter from his team and he’ll look to lead from the front in this game. He can score big in this match.
Axar Patel
Axar Patel scored 34 runs and then picked up 2 wickets in the last game against Hyderabad. He will be again a key player for Delhi as he’ll bat in the middle order and will be bowling to a batting unit which is very vulnerable to the ball turning away.
Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram has played only a couple of good knocks until now and he needs to lead from the front. He has looked good in all the games and needs to convert the starts into big scores. He is expected to bowl a few overs of his off-spin as well.
Heinrich Klaasen
Heinrich Klaasen is an excellent player against spin bowling and bats very aggressively. He scored 31 runs in the last game and almost won the match for his team. He will be a very important batter for his team and can be an excellent differential pick in fantasy cricket.
