With 2 losses in two games, MI is now placed at no. 9 in the points table. They have improved their performance from the last IPL, but still need to win at least 5 more games to get the playoffs ticket. With Archer missing the last game and not in form too, Mumbai’s bowling looks comparatively weak.
On the other hand, Rajasthan has won 5 of their 8 matches and is second in the points table, just behind Gujarat Titans. They are back on track with the win against CSK in their previous game, after losing two back-to-back games before that.
Team Preview
Mumbai Indians
The death bowling department of Mumbai Indians is what they need to seriously look upon. In the last two games, they have conceded 94 and 109 runs respectively in the last 6 overs.
Rohit Sharma is performing better from previous seasons but a big knock is still waiting for the birthday boy. Tilak started great but is not in touch for the last two games. Surya and Green are in form with Nehal and Tim as the finishers doing their job well.
Rajasthan Royals
Trent Boult in the powerplay has the potential to dominate any batting unit. With Sandeep Sharma by his side, powerplay bowling looks great for Rajasthan Royals. Yuzi Chahal is doing well in middle overs supported by Ashwin. In the last few games, their death bowling has also gone well.
Jos Buttler hasn’t performed well in the last 3 games which has resulted in RR losing 2 of them. His opening partner Yashasvi is in sublime form and so is Devdutt Padikkal. Dhruv Jurel is playing his first season but his finishing abilities have been very promising till now.
Pitch/Venue Report
The match would be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
- Total Matches Played-105

- Matches Won Batting Second-56
- Average First Innings Score-168
Due to the presence of red soil, the pitch at Wankhede is batting-friendly. Also, the short boundaries are advantageous for batsmen. The dew factor also comes into play which helps the team batting second. 185 has been the average batting score at this venue in 3 IPL matches. 2 of these matches are won by the team chasing.
