BAN vs NED: Match Preview, Pitch Report and Dream11 Prediction for Match 27 of T20 World Cup 2024

Super 8 qualification hangs in the balance as the Netherlands takes on Bangladesh at Kingston in a bout that may decide who will be the second team after South Africa to qualify for the Super 8s.

Team Overview

Bangladesh

Coming into the tournament after a humiliating series defeat against the USA in a 3-match series, Shanto’s men have staged a comeback, defeating Sri Lanka in a close encounter and pushing the Saffas to a last-ball finish though ending just short. Bowlers have been the stars for the side, leaking runs at an economy of just about 6 runs per over so far. Mustafizur has found his lost touch, whereas Rishad Hossein has been among the winners of the tournament so far. While things could get better with the batting scheme of things, Hridoy has been shining light, standing amongst the top 2 batters in each of the games played so far.

Netherlands

Finishing third in the tri-series played prior to the World Cup, the Netherlands looked off-colour against Nepal, though it managed to get things done in the end. Another batting failure against the Proteas meant it was going to be a one-sided loss, but the Dutch Pacers pulled things back, only for David Miller to clutch at the right moment. All-rounders have always been the crux of the side, and they will hope Van Beek continues with his magnificent showing in both departments.

Probable Playing XI

Bangladesh: L Das, T Hasan, N Shanto, T Hridoy, Shakib, Mahmudullah, J Ali, T Sakib Hasan, R Hossein, M Rahman, T Ahmed

Netherlands: M O’Dowd, M Levitt, V Singh, B De Leede, S Engelbrecht, S Edwards, T Nidamanuru, L Van Beek, P Van Meekeren, T Pringle, V Kingma

Pitch Conditions

This will be the series’ first game to be held at the Arnos Vale stadium. By seeing an average first innings score of under 150, expect it to go like the general trend so far. Spinners will dominate the Pacers and a quickfire 30 might prove to be the difference from either side.

Players to Watch Out For

Mustafizur Rahman: The golden boy of the Bangladeshi bowling attack, The Fizz, has regained his magic, putting forward figures such as 3/17 and 0/18 in the two games so far. Mostly bowling at the end of powerplay and at the death, he has always been miserable with his economy, and I expect him to make full use of the Caribbean pitches through clever use of his cutters.

Logan Van Beek: Catapulted into stardom through his ODI WC qualifier heroics, Van Beek has had a dream start to the campaign. With 3 wickets against Nepal along with a MOTM-worthy performance against the Saffas, he has kept afloat what has been a disappointing team batting performance as well as proved to be lethal with the new ball. If things go down to the wire, expect Logan to win it for his side at the business end of either innings.
