We move our journey to match 45 of the Men’s T20WC-2024, where the proteas will take on the English at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. The build-up to this match will be about the South African pace attack vs the English openers, as two world-class Jos Buttler and Phill Salt will tackle Rabada and Nortje. The spin game will be the key for both teams, as the team that bowls and plays spin better will be ahead in the mouth-watering contest.
The South African-England rivalry in the T20 WC takes us back to the 2016 WT20, where South Africa scored 230, and the Englishmen chased the mammoth courtesy of Jason Roy and Joe Root (both are not there in this WC).
Team Preview
England
England will play their game vs the Windies on the 20th, and after that, they will take on Proteas the next day, so we have to say that it will be quite challenging and hectic for them.
The main concern for England would be spin bowling here on Windies as the pitches have helped the spinners more, and if we particularly talk about the last game played at Darren Sammy stadium, the Windies scored 219 at this ground vs Afghanistan spin attack, so batting cannot be compromised here.
England will try to fit in both Rashid and Moeen Ali as regulars, with some part-timers like Livingstone chipping in. They will look to target the short square boundaries, and Bairstow is an expert in them. Archer with Wood and Jordan at death will be key.
South Africa
The Proteas have played five games in the World T20 and won all five of them. This just shows how good they have been throughout the tournament, and they will look to carry forward the momentum.
The point of concern will be the form of Reeza Hendricks in particular, as they have some good players to take his place in the squad. Shamsi and Maharaj will look to dry up the runs, challenging batters to hit more at front than at square, and Shamsi will look to bowl fuller length deliveries as batters like Buttler and Moen Ali love the short stuff. Nortje and Rabada hit the deck bowling will work here with some variations. With captain Markram’s all-round skills, Qdk and Klassen will be the key batters.
Pitch Report
St Lucia has been a good wicket for batting recently. 160 has been crossed 19 times at the stadium. The team batting second has a decent advantage, winning 10 of the 19 matches at the venue. The two highest team totals in this tournament have been seen at St Lucia: Sri Lanka’s 201/6 against the Netherlands and the West Indies’ 218/5 against Afghanistan.
Probable Playing XI

Key Players
Jos Buttler: Jos Buttler automatically gets selected among the top four most important players of the match whenever he plays T20 cricket. He has been a sensation as a white ball batter throughout his career and has also proved the same in this T20 WC.
Jofra Archer: When you talk about the most fearsome Pacers in the world, cricket, Jofra Archer just pops up in your mind. He has been that performer for England whenever he has played any form of the game for the English team. Archer will try to maintain his back-of-the-length stuff here.
Henrich Klassen: Klassen has been the best T20 bat around the world for a while now. He will look to showcase this against the English team, as he has elite gameplay against spin. He will be the impact player for South Africa throughout the tourney.
Kagiso Rabada: Kagiso Rabada was doubted for his downgrade in T20 tournaments, but he has come to all guns blazing in this T20 WC and will look to replicate the same in the remainder of the tournament. Rabada is regarded as one of the most fearsome Pacers of the generation. His test will be to keep maintaining discipline through his 24-ball spell.
